It goes without saying, "you are what you eat." Once we, as a society, realize that unhealthy bodies are starving for MICROnutrients as opposed to calories and MACROnutrients, we will see a dramatic shift in public health. Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients from whole plant-based foods, accompanied with rich sources of omega-3 essential fatty acids, are fundamental for health and wellbeing. Forget carbs, fats, and proteins; calories in and calories out. We are not robots and this is NOT an effective approach to wellness and healthy bodies. Sure, these macronutrients are necessary, but the quality and types of foods you choose really do matter. We are equipped with the sole responsibility to nourish or poison our bodies every time we put something to our mouths.
Break up with wheat and gluten, refined sugar, milk and dairy, and all those processed "edible food-like substances". I can guarantee you that large scale food industries do not give a shit about your health and are consumed in their own capitalist interests. Stop feeding them your money and feed YOURSELF and YOUR body. It will thank you.
The body is transient, and most everything is temporary. It's the sum of our actions, lack of exercise, poor sleep and stress management, inadequate nutrition, over a life time that leads to chronic imbalances that lead to disease. Disease is really a manifestation of chronic imbalances in the body. By identifying and removing these obstacles and/or supplementing where adequate nutrition is subpar, you will aid the body in self-healing and restoration and allow your body to progress back to equillibrium. Eat whole foods, mostly plants, that is adequate, balanced, and varied. That's what HUMANS were suppose to eat.
